Fortenza® Duo Insecticide (Syngenta) - Seed Treatment Technology
The Ultimate "First 40 Days" Protection for Maize (Corn) Crops.
[Image of Fortenza Duo insecticide bottle]Fortenza® Duo is a next-generation Seed Applied Insecticide (SAI) designed specifically for Maize farmers. Unlike sprays that wash off in the rain, Fortenza Duo coats the seed, building a shield inside the plant from day one. It combines two powerful active ingredients to stop Fall Armyworm, Shoot Fly, and soil pests before they can destroy your crop establishment.
Best For: Total protection of Maize seedlings from germination up to the V5 growth stage (approx. 30-40 days).
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
- ⚔️Dual Action Power: Contains two medicines (Cyantraniliprole + Thiamethoxam). One attacks the pest's muscles, the other attacks its nerves. Double protection.
- ?️The "Bulb of Protection": Creates a protective halo in the soil around the seed, killing soil pests like cutworms and termites immediately.
- ?Rapid Stop-Feeding: Pests stop eating within minutes of taking their first bite. This saves your delicate seedling from permanent damage.
- ?Vigor Effect: Promotes stronger root development and faster growth, helping the crop withstand drought and stress better.
- ?️Weather Proof: Since the medicine is inside the plant system, heavy rains cannot wash it away. No need to worry about spray timing.

How It Works: Mode of Action
Fortenza Duo works in three distinct phases to provide total security.
[Image of systemic action of seed treatment insecticide]- Soil Phase (The Halo): Upon planting, the medicine releases into the soil around the seed, killing underground pests like Cutworms and Termites on contact.
- Root Uptake: As the roots grow, they absorb the medicine. It travels up the stem (Xylem) to the leaves and whorl.
- Systemic Defense: The plant becomes toxic to pests from the inside. When a Fall Armyworm or Shoot Fly bites the leaf, it becomes paralyzed and dies.
Target Crops & Pests
| Crop | Target Pest(s) |
|---|---|
| Maize (Corn) | Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) [Image of fall armyworm damage in maize] Shoot Fly (Atherigona soccata) [Image of maize shoot fly damage] Cutworms, Termites, Aphids |
Dosage & Application Guide
Critical Note: Dosage depends on the pest you want to control. For Fall Armyworm (FAW), a higher dose is mandatory.
Dosage per Kg of Seed & Acre
| Target Pest | Dose (ml / Kg Seed) | Dose per Acre (8kg Seed) | Pack Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shoot Fly & Termites | 4 ml | 32 ml | One 32ml Bottle |
| Fall Armyworm (FAW) | 6 ml | 48 ml | Buy 64ml (Use 48ml) |
*Warning: Using only 32ml for Fall Armyworm may result in poor control. Stick to the 6ml/kg rate for FAW.
How to Apply: The "Plastic Bag" Method
[Image of seed treatment method using plastic bag]Since the volume of medicine is small, you must make a slurry to coat seeds evenly.
- 1. Prepare Slurry: For 1 Acre (8kg seed), mix the required Fortenza Duo (32ml or 48ml) with 100ml of water.
- 2. Load Seeds: Put the seeds into a strong plastic bag (like an empty fertilizer bag).
- 3. Add & Coat: Pour the slurry over the seeds. Close the bag tightly (trap air inside so it's like a balloon). Shake and roll vigorously for 2 minutes.
- 4. Dry: Spread the coated seeds on a plastic sheet in the shade. Do not dry in direct sunlight. Wait 20-30 minutes before planting.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I spray Fortenza Duo on the leaves?
No. This is strictly a Seed Treatment (FS formulation). It is not designed for foliar spraying.
2. How long does the protection last?
It protects the crop for the first 30–40 days. After this period, if pests attack, you may need a foliar spray.
3. Is it safe for bees?
The product is toxic to bees if dust drifts onto flowers. Ensure seeds are coated well (no loose dust) and planted properly into the soil.
4. Why do I need 48ml for Fall Armyworm?
Fall Armyworm is a tough pest. The standard 32ml dose is enough for Shoot Fly, but FAW larvae require a higher concentration to be killed effectively.
Safety & Disclaimer
Always wear gloves and a mask when handling treated seeds. Do not use treated seeds for food, feed, or oil purposes. To prevent resistance, the first spray applied after seedling stage should NOT be from Group 28 (Diamides).
