How It Works: Mode of Action
Maiden works as an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). Instead of poisoning the mite's nerves, it stops their ability to grow and reproduce.
[Image of life cycle of spider mite]- Kills Eggs (Ovicidal): If you spray it on mite eggs, the embryo inside dies and never hatches.
- Stops Molting: It prevents Nymphs (young mites) from shedding their skin. Without molting, they cannot grow and die quickly.
- Sterilizes Adults: When adult female mites touch the medicine, they don't die immediately, but every egg they lay afterwards becomes sterile (useless).
Note: This product does not instantly kill adult mites. It destroys the population over 3-5 days.

Dosage & Application Guide
The Golden Rule: Always follow the "Dose per Acre" for accurate results. Ensure you use enough water to drench the foliage.
Dosage per Acre, Litre, & Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI)
| Crop | Dose (ml / Acre) | Water (L / Acre) | Dose (ml / Litre) | PHI (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tea | 160 - 200 ml | 200 L | 1.0 - 1.25 ml | 5 Days |
| Chilli & Vegetables | 120 - 200 ml | 200 L | 1.0 - 1.5 ml | 3 Days |
| Apple | Varies (Based on Tree Age) | High Volume | 0.5 ml | 15 Days |
*PHI = Pre-Harvest Interval: The minimum number of days to wait between the last spray and harvesting.
How to Apply: Best Practices
- Timing: Apply at the very first sign of mites (prophylactic). Do not wait for the leaves to turn bronze or curl completely.
- Mixing: Do NOT mix with alkaline products like Bordeaux mixture. If your water pH is high (>8), use a pH balancer.
- Coverage: Use a "Hollow Cone" nozzle. Direct the spray nozzle upwards to cover the undersides of the leaves where mites hide.
- Safety: Always wear PPE (gloves, mask, goggles). Wash hands thoroughly after use.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does Maiden kill adult mites immediately?
No. Maiden is an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). It kills eggs and nymphs. It does not kill adults instantly, but it makes them sterile so they cannot reproduce. The population will crash in a few days.
2. Can I use Maiden on roses?
Yes, Maiden is safe for roses and does not burn the petals (non-phytotoxic). It is excellent for protecting greenhouse flowers.
3. Is it safe for fish?
No. Maiden is toxic to fish. Do not spray near ponds or aquaculture setups, and maintain a buffer zone.
4. Can I mix other insecticides with Maiden?
Yes, it is compatible with most insecticides like Imidacloprid and fungicides like Mancozeb, as long as they are not alkaline.
5. How often should I spray Maiden?
Do not spray more than once per season to prevent resistance. If mites return later in the season, rotate with a different chemical class (like Fenpyroximate).
